Japan Sea 1989: Pure Zen Spirit Guiding The Way

In my pack I carry
and read “The Way of the Samurai”
by Yukio Mishima.
This book is his translations
and personal interpretations
on the original classic Samurai
ethics and behavior book “Hagakure”.
“Hagakure” literally means “Hidden among the Leaves”.

Mishima had a kimono full of secret pockets
that hid his idealistic self-reflections –
he wrote this book three years before he performed
his dramatic ritual suicide
at the Self Defense Force headquarters in Tokyo.
Mishima thought he was defending his Self –
the war, internalized, within.
After his death his book became famous –
the war, externalized, without.
Mishima rose to mythic heights,
a resplendent Bushido life depiction.

“Bushido” means the “Way of the Warrior”,
it is at the heart of the beliefs and conduct of the Samurai –
the philosophy of Bushido is freedom from fear.
Samurai transcend their fear of death.
Transcendence of fear gives the peace
and power to serve
faithfully, loyally, and die well
if necessary as part of duty.

The consistency of war in the 15th century
and the introduction of guns into battle
created a change in the code of the warrior.
The code developed from the Chinese concept of virtue -
warriors doing battle armed with the power of morals -
virtue in the Samurai code created chivalry -
transforming warriors to be armed for combat
with consideration of others,
protecting human sensitivity with utmost care.

Some people believe that Mishima
was a modern day Samurai slaying life.
A clash of sword and pen,
warrior and poet philosophically Zen.
He died a benighted death,
iconic as a hero martyr
while still prime in the youth of life.

His code of conductivity
electively generated from the force within –
a part of the larger Self electric,
that we are all magnetically a part of,
the Whole
water and fire,
female and male,
either and air,
Earth and Spirit essence of You and I -
You are your Self,
I am my Self.

At his moment of death
I wonder
if Mishima's last thought
was pure Zen spirit
guiding his Way.

Yukio Mishima wrote in 1967;
“Each and everyone of us
hides within his subconscious mind
deep, blind impulses.
These are the dynamic expression
of the contradictions
filling one’s life
from moment to moment,
a manifestation
that has essentially nothing to do
with social ideals for the future.

In youth these are manifested
in their boldest, sharpest form
Moreover, such blind impulses
appear in dramatic opposition,
even in confrontation with one another.

Youth possesses the impulse to resist
and the impulse to surrender, in equal measure.

One might redefine these as
the impulse to be free and the impulse to die.

The manifestation of these impulses,
no matter how political the form it assumes,
is like an electric current
that results from a difference charge –
in other words,
from the fundamental contradictions
of human existence.”

Tokyo 1989: Hold The Sun In The Midst Of Pitch Darkness

A friend heard me say;
“Our bodies
are a vessel of flesh and bone
but we are mostly made of water.”

I continue internally digesting life
and life's eventful life experiences.

I tell my friend ...
“Nesting liquid heated to the atom,
our bodies are a chilled glass container.”

Then I say,
“Eventually our souls become transparent
and then our bodies non-existent.”

I take a walk ...
Day-end darkened weary features
of people crowding dessert shops
eating samples at the door,
mixing green tea
and sweet red bean aromas
into the already
scented puddles
of freshly fallen rain.

On the streets I pass
fresh sushi riding conveyor belts
in circles at restaurant counters.
Neatly sliced raw pinky fish on white rice,
priced by the color of the plate.
I stop to watch
the recently deceased flesh
travel around the world
of the customers.
Fish smells are inhaled up my nose.
I exhale,
the seafood of ocean life,
into the path
of another passerby’s nose.

Life passes backwards
while I walk forward
towards home.
I think I smell Hollywood:
Mexican tamales, Ethiopian bread, Thai noodles.
My feet hurt from hitting the day-long concrete streets.

I soften
as I contact
the wooden walkway
leading into our garden.
I firmly plant myself in the ground
by slipping on wet balsam tree planks.

I pick up
a round energetically vibrant stone
hiding under the garden shrubbery.
My hands are red cold,
dripping wet;
home is where the heart is.

I am home,
home is governed
by my Shogun landlady.
She owns her own post-war-Tokyo
construction-worker’s boarding house.
She respects women
and she thinks men are big baby bears
with large calloused paws.
No matter,
in her world,
her reality
is providing each guest
with their own paper room.

There are house rules
for the worldly guests:
Singles only,
No coupled sex,
Self serve only.
Free hot green tea.
Free hot water for instant noodles.
Free hot nightly baths before bed.

There are many rules to govern
our code of conduct,
the regulations assure
clean inner functions
to ensure outer cleanliness.

Legend says ...
the Emperor Keiko
was the first person with the title of Shogun ...
the word Shogun means
Barbarian-subduing General.
I currently am the barbarian
being subdued by the Shogun,
and so I read
some words from the year 1300
written by (Lalla) (Lal Ded) Lalleshwari.

“Where did I come from, and how?
Where am I going?
Will I know the road?"

"This life is empty breath.
If I can hear one clear truth,
I’ll be fortunate."

"Who can hold the drippings in freezing mid-winter?
Oh, who can hold the wind in one’s clenched hand?
He and only he who crushes the five sense-organs and tears them into shreds.
He alone can hold the sun in the midst of pitch darkness.”

Sometime after 1929
Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke and wrote;
"We must accept finite disappointment,
but never lose infinite hope."

Kyoto 1989: Smiles are An Offering of Vibrational Prayers, From Those Whose Hearts Are Still, Singing

People line up in temples to light incense,
pray and compete for heavenly attention.

Incense-wisps curl, trail upward.
Smoke kisses temple birds,
who fan the scents to far away places.

Monastic birds flutter their heartbeats.
Fold the power of prayers into their wings.

Wing-smoke and people’s wishes rise.
Spanning the skies, far and wide,
caressing hopeful faces of those near and far.

Candles are lit, more incense sticks burned.
Low guttural tones echo off the cold stone floor.

Sound ripples, tides-through scattered pebble streams.
The temple birds add to the fullness in sight, sound, smells.
Wings flap feathers float, falling from Sky to land on Earth.

At the alter, smoke-filled throats chant until raw.
All of us offer our reserve of vibrational traditions.

Outside the temples tourists mingle with Monks and children.
Temple stores and street vendors provide families happiness.
Souvenirs and flowers reassure the lovely couple just married.

I watch the wedding being photographed.
The happy couple are arched and framed by worshippers.

Lighting incense and burning money for the dearly departed.
Food is left for Those who came before us, our Ancestors.
Whispered prayers request a happy bed for this wedding night.

I am eating rice,
the sacred food gifted
by Earth's waters.

Before swallowing I am urged
to consider combining my eating,
with worship of our Ancestors :
'Those' who planted
and tended the fields.

By honouring Nature, Earth,
and Those who cared,
for all of this before us,
my respect shows that I understand.
I know the sacred act of planting,
growing, harvesting and eating.

The Monk asks me
to be aware
of the vital mission,
to provide our world
with food sustenance.

The Monk urges me to pray
for Those of us who live,
live by the Earth’s good graces,
and are alive taking nourishment
from Earth's surface while here.

The spirit of the rice grain
is reduced to its purest elements.
Plant, grow, harvest, clean,
steam-cook the rice.

Combine the powers of the Earth
with muscle and breath.
Wind and Water energy,
Sun and Moon energies
flicker alive.

I watch the rice reduced into a paste,
made smooth with a wooden mallet.

In traditional times,
the Husband and Wife created together.
This synchronistic team
required absolute marital trust.

Trust and intuition powered the cooperation.
The connection necessary
for precise creation of the meal.
This intimate connection deeply forges
immeasurable trustworthy lifelong bonds.

Ceremonies and festive prayer
soften the martial bond
into a state of conscious completion.

Those who have been born on Earth,
Those who have moved full time
onto non-Earthly afterlife existence,
and Those in prelife not yet arrived onto Earth -
everyone of us is merging, coexisting, cohabiting
moving through the layering veils of remembrance.

They watch us,
Those who have come before us,
Those who have yet to come,
They all watch us
and with us they share the meal.

Together, we eat the rice cakes.
Every bite is a blessing for the Farmers,
and every swallow is an Ancestor blessing
offered to those in Spirit who care to give care.

Every bite and swallow is nourishing gratitude.

Songs are sung to re-mind every Soul,
of how many people it takes to grow one meal.
Chants are hummed to re-mind every soul,
of how many elements of Earth's heart and hearth
it takes to feed one person, one family, one community.

Life offers opportunity to offer smiles,
vibrational acts and toned harmonic whispers.
Kindness is an offering, smiles a reflection
of attuning to the vibrational prayers,
from Those whose hearts are still, singing.

Tokyo 1989: Sanity Is: The Compassionate Madness of Love

Rain falls
so I take my favorite route
away from the crowd,
to emerge under Ginza's railway bridge.
Here velcro-shut-in plastic-bubbles,
filled with tempura soup stalls,
and boiling noodle standing tents,
create food for cold and hungry people.
Steam exits from the customer's mouths,
as they open wide to consume
what is cheaply placed before them.

Escaping heat
streams upward seeking shelter
under lamppost shades.
My eyes glow yellow
under lamplight golden beams.
I am a cat watching in the dark
the path that rain takes
as it pours onto the heads
of tented customers.
They enter and exit
releasing fuzzy-tear velcro-noises,
and misty soup-steam into navy-blue nights.

Teacups reveal
bottoms soaking-wet with fallen-leaves
foretelling the fortunes of alchemy's luck in life.
How to turn concrete into gold,
and transform metal from solid to liquid flame.
The mystic qualities of life
are not a manipulated fiction, but a fact.
Questioning the logic of life
disrupts the balance and imbalance of the linear -
reveals those who are desperate to believe
our contra-conception reality of events.

Bullet trains
whip by at the speed of sound
tossing my hair wildly upwards -
in bowing worship
to gleaming armored-bodies.
Zeus throws thunderbolts
lighting up the under-tracks -
blade runner sparking halos
that hail the advancing techno-army.
Metal on metal brakes-to-rails
create streaming currents of electrical saints –
rain falls truth in it's energy-charged droplets,
mixing with rising false vapors of steamed people.

Pure futuristic thought in present time,
I think of one person, then the many -
imagined and pulled
straight out of my hive mind.
All reveals the world of society within myself,
the shadows of illusions within the truth of fiction.
I inspirationally suddenly become alive,
with comprehension of sensitivity among insanity.
Sanity is: to never lose compassionate faith in love for life.
Sanity is: the compassionate madness of love.

Sometime after 1659, 山本 常朝 Yamamoto Jocho said;

“One may measure the stature of a person’s dignity
on the basis of external impression.
There is dignity in assiduity and effort.
There is dignity in serenity.
There is dignity in closeness of mouth.
There is dignity in observing proper etiquette.
There is dignity in behaving always with propriety.
There is great dignity too in clenched teeth and flashing eyes.
All these qualities are externally visible.
The most important thing is to concentrate on them at all times

San Francisco 2003: The World Spins From Choice and Interpretation

He surrendered to a whole new beginning.
A friend died in Tibet
filming a Chinese movie
for an American company.
We gather today
from around the world
to celebrate life,
and the cycles of existence.

Tibetan friends pray recalling his Spirit from Tibet
to return Home,
to bless his parent’s hearts.
As witnesses we see
that we all come from a long line of people,
who hand in hand and heart over heart
link us to the beginning of existence.

We come from a legacy tapestry of ancestry,
which connects us to the meaning of life.
We come from a circle of life,
which transcends birth and death,
beginnings and endings.
Our ancestors knew they came here to love,
to be loved,
and evolve
through learning
about the many dimensions of love.
Each ancestor contributed moments
to the collective pool of feelings.

Being humble does not mean being unaware of our life’s majesty.
My advice to my friends is to practice everyday
creating something larger than your Self -
and deepening Self-understanding
of if there is something larger than your Self.

When I feel rage, anger, hatred, pain, love, joy and compassion,
I drop every weapon in my arsenal of feelings,
open my hands and heart to expand my Self -
by releasing my emotions
so I can become transformed
into something larger
than a body of uncomfortable sensations.
Human experience is alive,
I open my hands and heart to release
any punishing weapons of Self-judgement.

Each day I care for my Self
by ingesting healthy water, food, air  -
it is my choice to transform my Self into more.
It is my choice to expand to become more of my Self
in the vast largeness -
the expansiveness that connects each one of us
to the infinite within our Self, our life - all life.

I build sand houses at the edge of waves,
so immediately my house is washed,
engulfed in the transformation
of becoming part of something larger.
I take walks on the land,
plant seeds,
so I take root in the vastness of connection.
I tell my pain to the birds,
so they carry it away
by singing to the world of existence -
birds sing songs of transformation erasing pain,
so music gains melodic strength of purpose.

Yesterday when I was meditating in peace,
a beautiful Raven flew by
so I sent it love.
It turned,
flew into my towering glass window
and was crushed,
I cared for it as it died.
As it died,
Soul left body
in shimmering waves
like a breeze
flickers a candle flame alive.

Watching from above
another Raven chose
to fly into my window glass.
Joining in death its Soul’s mate
it crushed the weight of its life
against the same fragile tower of fate.

I did not grasp at seeking any external meaning
to these sacrificed lives,
I became quiet,
communicated inwardly
and asked to receive an internal message.

Confused,
I looked outside myself for relief,
and read in a Native American medicine book;
"When Ravens appear open yourself to miracles,
use new eyes, embrace life’s wonders"
In the Native American tradition
truth is found through simplicity, using introspection.

A flock of wild green parrots flew by
screaming madly,
followed by another flock
of sixty or more lime green parrots
also shrieking loudly.
Is the noise they make excitement or anxiety,
it sounds almost the same,
but it is not.

The parrots fly like schools of fish swim,
directionally darting
suspended by their beliefs
that they can fly.

Some people ask and pray
for revenge, retaliation, retribution and war -
while others ask and pray
for forgiveness, mercy, compassion and peace -
it sounds almost the same,
but it is not,
so I choose what I ask for carefully,
because,
the world spins on its axis
fueled by the power of our choices
and interpretations.

Recently Carolyn Brent wrote;
“Through the power and grace of forgiveness,
forgiving the unforgivable,
forgiving self and others,
love is liberated
and with that release-

freedom, peace, power
and new life are available.
True love of Self is the result.”

During the Zhou Dynasty, Laozi (Li Er 李耳)wrote,

Los Angeles 2011: Relaxing Comes Naturally

To become more your Self
is to attain a state of relaxation.
Transform how you relax.
What you do to relax,
does it actually relax you?
Is how you relax
transforming and improving your life?
What are the roots of relaxation?

Relaxation is an ancient act
created by creation to recreate.

The English word relax
is originally of Indo-European roots
introduced into English characters in the year 1106
from Latin, Greek, Arabic, Sanskrit and Egyptian -
meaning to lax, laxus, relaxare
meaning to loosen, let go, let give, bring peace.

To become more your Self
is to attain a state of relaxation.

The sounds we speak are simple,
and the characters we scribble are simple,
placeholders invented
to describe the active forces
of our own nature.

The process of relaxing
has various meanings:
to become less intense, less tense, less severe
to cast off nervous tension, anxiety
and attain equilibrium.

Relax also means to be deprived
of energy, zeal, or strength of purpose.
The word Relax can be applied
to group and Self-governing,
such as relaxing the law -
and relaxing your opposition
to another, each other, or even your Self.

Bodies need to relax
each day and night
constantly and continuously.

Sleep is a form of repose -
a pose or poses that we posture
to relax our control,
to alter our state of consciousness,
to instill connection
to the deeper aspects of our Self.

Transforming how you relax
starts with taking a moment to Self-reflect.

Relaxation is a form of energy exchange,
which clears as it replenishes.
Just as easy, simple and natural
as breathing exhales to release,
and breathing inhales to restore.

Relaxation does not require
that you be mindful,
relaxing occurs
even if you are oblivious
to your own state of Self.

Our mind, body and spirt
relax naturally because relaxation
is a natural phenomena - a miracle.
Nature built into our human design
a cyclical seasonal of mechanical forces
that repose and reposition us.

Our ancestors derived a common vocabulary
to Self-describe and detail
their everyday relationship with relaxation.
Throughout history all words used
to describe the act of relaxing,
and relaxation the state,
have one unified understanding.
To relax is to permit a natural altering of your state.
Relaxation naturally occurs as an intention
and desire to restore and rejuvenate.

Charity is a word derived
from Greek and Latin word Kharites, The Charites
The Charities are also commonly known as The Graces.
The Graces are the three Goddesses of grace, happiness, relaxation.
Song, dance and beauty are also considered graces and charities.

Kharites, charity, the Roman Poets translated into Gratia.
Gratia historically was translated and known as Grace.
Gratia was also historically known as gratitude.

The Greeks celebrated the festival of Charites -
Grace, Gratitude and Repose.
In Latin and Greek 'Dei Gratia'
means by the 'Grace of God'.
In Spanish 'Gracias'
simply means thank you.

In Latin 'Gratia Gratiam Parit'
expresses a reciprocal relationship.
A reciprocal relationship is one that is in balance.
When another person's graciously does you a favour,
which endears them to you,
you in return favour them with your gratitude.

In Latin the word Gratia is also used to define
the relationship you have to others,
and the relationship others have to you,
as well as the relationship you have to your Self.

'Gratia' is something someone shows you,
not just in their gratitude,
but through how they treat you.
They favour you with the grace of their gratitude.
Favour meaning esteem, regard, respect acted out,
given to you, by their honourable treatment of you.

Acts of kindness, courtesy, consideration and service
are acts of Gracia, Charity and Relaxation
that the ancients called Human Kindness.

'Dei Gratia' by the Grace of God
is inscribed on the obverse of all Canadian coin money.
A reminder to create relaxed gratitude when exchanging currency,
honouring the true value of each other's exchange through trade.

From the end of the thirteenth century
to the beginning of the fifteenth century,
this European period was called
the 'Golden Age of Mystical Literature in the Vernacular'.
During this time period,
literature was no longer required
to be written only in Latin,
which was the official language of the Church.
People began to grace literature
by writing in 'the people's voice.

In 1521 Henry Pepwell wrote,
"The Cell of Self -Knowledge:
Seven Early English Mystical Treatises".
This writing was about the forces of nature,
including the stages of Contemplation and Relaxation;
known as Imagination, Reason, Understanding
used to create Self-knowledge and Unity Consciousness.

The origins of Greek and Latin are multicultural.
For centuries the Greek language
existed in multiple dialects.
As Greek culture under 'Alexander The Great '(356-323 BC)
and his successors spread from Asia Minor to Egypt
and the border regions of India,
the Attic dialect became the basis
for the Koine Greek.
Koine means "one common language".

Infused with the languages
of the inhabitants of the regions Alexander invaded,
Koine Greek became a world-use language
commonly used to translate in ports of trade,
and diplomatic circles and courts
to transcend all language barriers.

Greek was the lingua franca until 1453,
but was not used in English until 1678.
The universal term 'Lingua Franca'
comes originally from the Italian language
and means 'Frankish Language'.
The Italian word 'Frankish'
comes from the Arabic word 'Firangi'
which means foreign.

Lingua Franca is a language system
used as a bridge language,
to communicate between people
not sharing a common mother tongue.
A vehicular language which facilitates people to grow,
and expand their knowledge of our world.
A conduit to convey transformation themselves
to be more be beyond the boundaries
of their original location and spiritual community.

A Lingua Franca serves as a second language,
for communication between communities.
The original unifying Lingua Franca
was a mixed language
composed with a broad vocabulary
drawn from Italian, Turkish, French,
Spanish, Greek and Arabic.
Lingua Franca was created to create peace,
peaceful diplomacy, safe travel and trade equality.

Egyptian began to be written
using the Greek alphabet in the 1st century.
The new Coptic writing script
was an adaptation of the Greek alphabet
with an addition of six to seven signs
from the demotic script
to represent Egyptian sounds
the Greeks did not have in their language.

Several dialects were mixed together and used,
including the prominent ones of Sahidic and Bohairic.
Coptic and Demotic are grammatically close
to spoken 'Later Egyptian' and hieroglyphic script.

'Coptic' is from the Arabic term
for Egyptian Christians : the Copts al-Qubt.
It's origins were from
'Coptic' the Greek name for Egypt 'Aigyptos' -
which was derived from an Egyptian name for
Memphis, the House of the Soul of Ptah.
'Ptah' was the patron god of Memphis,
and the name Memphis itself comes from Mnnfr.
Mnnfr, is the original name of the pyramid
of King Pepi I of the VI Dynasty.
Mnnfr means 'enduring beauty'.

In Greek 'enduring beauty' translates into
'relaxation and gratitude by the Grace of God'.
In Arabic, 'Mahshallah' means 'by the grace of God',
and 'Inshallah' means 'God Willing'.

'Mon' in Later Egyptian means
Grace, Rest, Repose, Relax
and By the Grace of God.
'Monday' in many cultures
is considered the first day of the week -
and in many languages,
from Sanskrit to Chinese,
Monday is the day of the Moon.

The Moon governs the forces of repose -
the relaxation of the Water cycle's tides,
the Ocean of one's own emotional nature
and each body of emotions.
In many cultures from Judaism to Islam
Mondays are considered auspicious days for fasting.

In the Eastern Orthodox Church
Monday is the day the Angels are commemorated.
In the 'Greek Book of Octoechos'
the hymns and melodies to act out Mon are featured.
The tones in the 'Greek Book of Octoechos'
are arranged in an eight-week cycle
which are chanted on Mondays.

'Octoechos' literally means 'The Book of Eight Tones'.
'The Book of Eight Tones' describes
an eight-week cycle,
each week beginning with
a new mode, tone or echo.
Harmonics for each day of the week.

In many cultures,
musically there is a use of eight modes,
or tones to induce relaxation.
To release and to attain equilibrium
one must relax one's Self
to bring forth charity of grace and gratitude.

Relaxation in all cultures
and languages is simply a state of Giving.
Giving to your Self a change of state.
Giving to your Self a state of Gratitude.
Giving to your Self a state of Joy.
Giving to gain through releasing your hold,
reposing to repositioning your Self,
creates a gain of Self Knowledge.

Relaxation is an ancient act
created by creation to recreate.
Each morning when you awake,
relax into your recreational life time.

Relaxation spontaneously occurs
with the forces of nature.
So give your Self the gift of more,
a variety of states of being.
Permit your Self to relax the force within you.
Permit your Self to relax the force that is you.
Permit your Self to relax to be you,
and enjoy your daily and nightly transformation.

We have been relaxing and recreating,
individually and together,
since the beginning of time as we know it.
Relaxing comes naturally,
activated by the harmonics
of our natural cycles of being.

Right Here, Right Now: Beginning My New Life With Old Wisdom

Right Here, Right Now
Happy New Year.

Right Here, Right Now
Peace, love and happiness.

Right Here, Right Now
Each day and each night I am
beginning my new life with old wisdom.

And you?

You know what rhythm is? ...
You have your beledi drums ...
You must shout rhythmically, as to a drum!
Just as you used to do, in 1919.
Didn't you shout, Long Live Egypt ... very musically?
Long Live Egypt!"

Beijing, Afghanistan 1992: A Well Deserved Rest

I am standing at the window
watching my neighbors -
a kindergarten school
of children playing.

The children run, topple, giggle, marvel
and scream at what new things
they discover each day.

The other day, at the farmer's market
a little boy tried to pick my pocket.

I grabbed his hand and scolded him.
The man selling vegetables
cursed him into obscurity.

The boy looked sad,
said he needed the money.

Maybe he was taught by adults
that stealing is a better way than begging.

I wished him well.
I support his progress, his journey to self-educate.
Life educates.

Out of the corner of my eye,
I continue to watch the children play,
as I read the Beijing newspaper about Afghanistan.
Afghanistan, who shares with China a physical border.
One of our worldly neighborhood boundaries
currently being transformed, being reimagined.

The politics of individual choices
reforms the collective whole,
for the community of well-being.
The perhaps, the maybe, the possibly
of who knows what for sure.

Throughout the history of choices,
the older the culture, the more choices.
Sometimes confusion accompanies
an abundance of choice.

Whose life-rules to live by?
Mine, theirs, ours?
What, when, where, how?
Never ask why.

Rules always begin and end the same,
begin with more rules -
and end in the rules being made to be broken.

Breaking other people's rule,
by following the rules,
means that to follow other people's rule,
is to remake the rules as they evolve into being unruly.

For each individual one of us;
there is one self-certain rule,
the self-rule of individual existence.

One personal truth -
your own Personal Truth -
learned by exercising your own self-leadership.
Invoking your own rule, for and of, your own life.

Your own personal truth
profoundly greets you upon death.

The event of Death makes
life experience more pronounced.

When each one of us is pronounced dead,
your individual personal truth seeks you out -
and your own personal truth always find you.

The truth of your life makes and unmakes you,
then remakes you again, to make you a gain.

Personal truth makes the most of you.
Personal truth is seeded in your Soul.

Personal truth is the growth
cycle of your own creation.

When personal truth comes
knocking at your door,
your inner-most deeply-hidden
secreted-chambers open.

Your unknown greets your known -
what you have made is unmade,
so your unmaking can be remade.

Your truth is your making,
and the unmaking of you is your truth.

Truth, a personal force of creation creatively recreating you.

The sooner you glimpse your Self,
the more immediate you become,
you hasten to quicken your becoming.

Becoming more intimate within your relationship
with your own spirit-giving-life-long mortal-human-journey.

The more you become intimate with your own mortality,
the sooner your life's journey transforms life.

The breath of your own precious immortality,
is cellularly paced to inhale and distribute Self-awareness;
life's infinite intimate supply of fountain of youth.

Individual awareness is a form of Self-identity.
To be self-aware is to be essentially alive living life.

~~
The last time I journeyed within
China's and Afghanistan's shared places,
I stood at the top of a hill...
and looked out onto the land.

A land living with choices...
choices of the individuals
who occupy those spaces.

I met an old Shepherd...
living in the raging current of the present...
with one foot still in the past,
and one toe cautiously dipped in the unknown,
future-presence-past together-still,
kept alive from the results of yesterday’s choices.

I remember The Shepherd and I talked for ages,
I recall we conversed about his choices,
questions which he is presented with every day...
the choices he makes each day, one day at a time.

His present-time world-of-responsibility.
His rules made by other-people's-Rule,
His unique rules made and unmade,
His rules are diverse, different from other people's rules.

Each of us is accountable to our choices,
each of our choices which show up visibly,
immediately-within the-spirit-of-our-manifestations.

The Shepherd is of Afghani culture...
He often crosses over to both sides...
this-side-of-this-Border to this-other-side-of-this-Border;
this Border-crossing between-all-Bordering-sides,
this not-so-ancient-Border made-between Afghanistan with China.

But,
The Shepherd does not take sides.

The Shepherd lives is his neighborhood,
his neighborhood that was erected here, long before,
a man-made Border was resurrected between neighbors.

No man, no human, knows how to bury borders;
as Borders are artificial lines of demarcation,
mere echoes of temporal perspective
in our round spinning world that has no sides.

Besides, all sides have a center and meet in the middle.

And so the Shepherd lives by his own Nature,
the Shepherd lives by Nature's Rule.

Nature rules by having no fixed rules,
transforming as needed according to seasonal change.

Nature has no rules, Nature does not rule.
The essence of Nature is to live,
and perpetuate the cycle of life and the living.

The life of a Shepherd is to carry his integrity,
within himself, he moves, a shepherd is a guide,
equally across all landscape and mind scape.

His graceful inner-movements within
make and serve to self-define his outer graces.
His exteriorized grace is a grace of a self-expressed-whole,
a self full of integrity, a self full of self-realization.

His self-recognized, spacial-harmonies border his self,
and his depth-perception is gracefully full of self-awareness.

To witness a Self full of Self-awareness
is to behold a Self aware, of the Nature of Self.

The Shepherd is a learned guide,
he guides, he does not need,
nor does he desire a person to Rule him,
or someone to tell him what rules to live his life by.

Guides simply guide.
Guides are by their own nature self-guiding,
Self-awareness bestows the gift of living life simply.

The Shepherd's family has been living
on this land, in this way,
long before anyone had a memory.

When my friend The Shepherd talks of home and family ...
he laughs a great deal, displaying his big-toothed grin.

He is attractive in his sincerity and humor.
He shares a great deal,
about the nature of the first person,
to ever arrive here in these mountains -
from another world, with another world view.

This first individual,
this someone who came here from somewhere else,
appeared before there was a clan -
preceded the clan who grew into a tribe of community.

Over the years The Shepherd's community,
along with many other communities,
broke their rules of common unity,
and became willing, yet reluctantly combative.

The community had to unmake
then remake their common unity;
The community forced themselves
one-by-one to become unmade.

Each individual had to learn to make peace,
Make peace with the new transformative forces of Nature -
Not the man-made forces
exerting their power upon the community,
but Nature's seasonal forces and temporal abnormalities.

The Shepherd knows
that no community or individual
can control Nature -
but humans can make peace with Nature.

Making peace with Nature
means living with no rules -
no one Rules and there are no rules.

Some humans find it difficult to make peace,
to make peace within themselves,
to make peace with Self-awareness,
to make peace with human Nature.

Each one of us has free will,
and can choose to make peace with Self and world,
or choose to wage an inner war on personal prosperity.

To be a resistance fighter of conscious evolution is a choice.
The path of least resistance is a journey
of less Self-terror and more Self-peace.

The Shepherd's community of individuals
one by one, each one of them,
chose to become dedicated to preserve their humanity -
chose to be Creators and Protectors of Nature's integrity.

The community chose
to marry their beliefs with their actions,
to honor, to have and to hold
a sacred union with Nature.

This peopled community chose to safeguard
humanity's precious sentient society of resources.
"The personal power of every one of us"
is essential in a community of guides,
whose are life's stakeholder-motto is:
"To never get lost".

Guides do not consider themselves owners
of the land they traverse, but consider themselves
guardians of the land and it's resources.
Guides love the land they shepherd,
and Shepherds loves the land they guide.

Love is a choice,
individual love,
the love of togetherness,
the love of the land,
the love of the planet,
the love demonstrated in human kindness,
the love of home, the love of family.

All individuals and communities
eventually must choose to have love
for their community of individuals,
and to create a common unity.
Commonality that chooses to love choice,
Commonality that chooses to love the land you live on,
Commonality that chooses to love life, your life you live,
Commonality to love the planet we all live on.

Love for planet is the food and nourishment of a community.
Love for our planet's mothering is a love that honors immortality.

From farming fields and shepherding flocks,
each individual within The Shepherd's community,
over centuries has become engaged,
and committed to live a life of Self-preservation.

Feeding family health is more important than fighting over ill words.

Nature informs what actions are worth fighting for.
Nature introduces the forces of seasonal existence.
Nature teaches how to birth the newborn in Spring,
and bury death in the dead of Winter.

My friend, living in the Shepherding community,
lives according to 'Nature's Code of the Living';

"Love the life all around you,
and life all around you will love you."

The Shepherd's community has a common unity ...
"Do not fight life and life will not be a battleground."

Within each individual, within any internal war,
within each neighbor, within any inner battle,
within each neighborhood, within any inner struggle,
within each community, within any inner conflict ...
the challenge is to not fight the extreme external forces,
but the challenge is to go within your Self and make peace.

Self-focus to go within to make peace within your Self.

A season veteran, The Shepherd knows
the only way to safely ride the disruptive cycles,
of long Winters and late Springs...
the only way to have victory...
move through over heated Summers
and pass through bone chilling Autumns,
is to surrender to the common unity of Earthly love,
and to make peace with the terrestrial tendency to struggle.

Shepherds learn to ease-off on effort,
and ease-off on the controls ...
to let go of controlling and to let go of trying.

Who in the entire history of humanity
has ever controlled life's seasons?

How can the uncontrollable in life's cycles be controlled?

My friend, The Shepherd taught me life's basics.

Basically within each individual
there is war, peace and everything in between.

Basically each one of us
gains independent experience.

Basically each-one-of-us-individuals,
gain the ability to visualize each day independently.
Individually recognize Sheep distinctly from Shepherd,
and define the Shepherd separately from the Sheep.

Each one of us is unique,
no two alike, to each to their own
individual personal journey of Self-recognition.

Each one getting to know,
the 'who I am' ...
Me, I reflect
within mySelf,
in kind ...
me that I,
project out into the world of Others.

I experience the 'who I am' in the 'what I know I own'.

I own my behavior I personalize,
I own my words I use,
I own my actions I choose,
I own my compassion I share.

I have my individual opportunity to see my personal growth,
I have my individual potential to share my personal sense of Self.

Each one of us
individually experiences the inner resistance,
the sense of Self that senses self,
and knows the difference
between life's thorns and flowering clarity.

My friend, The Shepherd,
Self-reflected and so taught me by
Reflecting back to me his Truth.

Wisdom made from Truth transformed by experiences.
Experiences willingly transformed into Wisdom.
Experiences based on Truth willing to be unmade.
Self-given Freedom to move through new experiences
Unmakes previous Truth makes new Truth.

Unmaking the Present
bye
Letting go of the Past
bye
Visualizing a better Future
by
Love as a force of imagination.

Reimagining that which was previously imagined.

My friend, The Shepherd,
Self-reflected and so taught me by
Reflecting back to me his Truth:
Make personal insight visible.
Create insight to experience Self-made certainty.
Make certain my knowledge of my Self.
Organize my inner Self in order to Self-realize outwardly.

The Shepherd leads by example,
He knows who he is, as an individual ...
Who I am.
He knows where he is, as an individual ...
Where I am.
He knows what he is doing, as an individual ...
What I am doing.
He knows what he needs to know, to care for himself.
Know I, my Self, me.
He knows each individual Sheep's need, to care for them.
Know I care.

The Shepherd observes his flock,
witnesses individual sheep.
Knows the feeling of safety and security.
Knows that if the Sheep's individual attention
is distracted from taking care,
if attention is drawn-away from giving-care to Self,
then lack of self-awareness gives less to one's Self.

Responsibly to guide others means first Shepherding your Self.

Take-care to not be distracted from first giving-care to Self.
Each Shepherd knows each Sheep smells the fear in confusion.
Each Shepherd knows any one Sheep can be distracted by fear.
Each Shepherd knows that if any one Sheep gets distracted by fear,
then each and every Sheep might become scared enough to follow.
Everyone might come to be lost in an oblivion made by choices.

Everyone comes to be lost in oblivion,
quickly every last Sheep becomes lost,
Lost by becoming an oblivion composed of unconscious choices.
In the world of the Sheep all it takes is one to stray into distraction.

A flock of Sheep can die from care-taking diversions,
distractions can divert the strength of the flock,
from peaceful-coexistence to individual perils that take life.

The danger of distractions are that they take time away
from care-taking-time needed,
to look after the needs of Self and another.

In the mountains sure-footedness is life-affirming,
sure footedness in the journey through rough peaks,
is life-giving when you are in relationship with each foot-step.

Each step-taken moves your Self in a care-full way.
Care-taking is taking care of even the smallest details.
Vigilance in learning how to give-care is your first priority.
Each Sheep, each Shepherd, each Self,
each and every need must first be recognized,
to made Self-awareness is to safeguard personal ease and peace.

Love of community creates a common unity.

Common bonds of shared caring
creates common attention to Self-awareness preservation.
Each Shepherd must care for himself and each Sheep.
Each Sheep must care-give of itself and it's Shepherd.

To ensure survival of the community,
the common unity is love.

In-kind care-giving and giving-care to be kind,
giving-care to love and care-giving of love.

Love is defined by not taking-trust but be trust-worthy,
and giving-care to take-care to create-more care-giving.

There is a vast difference between care-giving and care-taking,
both require paying attention to common unity of community.

Trust, caring-trust, trust-in-care-giving, being trust-worthy,
caring-for-truth is built up over time by practice.

Repetition and frequency creates familiarity, makes familiar.
Often speaking comforting words while moving through deep valleys,
climbing the same steep hills, scaling unfamiliar mountain peaks,
and by going over the same ground more than once,
we awaken familiarity, make everything familiar, create family.

Love for life breeds familiarity,
being familiar with life gives birth to peace.

The Sheep in turn engage with the Shepherd,
train the Shepherd how to be with them individually,
and how to be with them communally with common unity.

The Shepherd engages with Self-cultivation -
he watches, to learn and to know the Sheep's preferences.
How to be with himself and how to be with the Sheep,
to guide the Sheep, the Shepherd must first know himself.

The Shepherd engages with Self-cultivation -
he watches himself, learns to know his own preferences.
To know himself is to know how to Self-lead to create self-peace.
To be the peaceful leader of his commonly peaceful unity,
is to learn what it is like to be a peaceful leader worthy of trust,
and to be a care-giver within his own common unity of community.

My friend, The Shepherd witnesses,
when individuals fight,
within their home territories,
changes occur within the flock,
over time the number increases of individuals fighting,
and so the fight grows ...
and so the fight grows more influential ...
and so the fight grows more influential over more individuals ...
and so the fight grows more individual influence ...
and so the number increases of individuals fighting ...
and so the fight increases its power and influence over all individuals.

Each Shepherd knows if he is distracted,
or scared into distraction,
enough, so, he learns to practice fear,
then the Sheep come to be distracted -
become scared and fear-full of each and every step.
When each and every Sheep is scared of their next step,
then the common safety of their easy steps become broken,
then community, the common unity becomes lost in oblivion.

I asked The Shepherd about his children ...
the children living in these areas who see ...
other individuals coming here,
individuals who live to fight,
bring their fight among them.

Do the children simply see new individual faces ...
new bodies constantly being spirited here ...
being spirited there,
being spirited away from here ...
by forces of each individual's own undoing ...?

Do the children see each individual,
insisting that the forces which unmade them,
are forces not of their own making?

Individuals who insist that what became familiar to them,
must now become familiar to others,
and they are here to familiarize others,
by any means necessary even by force
into a new familiarity.

The Shepherd replies;
"I have trained my eyes,
and my children's eyes,
to view each individual face,
each Sheep, as unique."

"To view each face and body as easy to see,
to view what is new as easy to make out,
and simple to uniquely define."

"I have trained my eyes,
and my children's eyes,
to look for what is simple,
to find the simplicity in what is individually unique,
and to recognize simplicity within the individual,
even over long distances."

The Shepherd observes;
"Humans do not often
view themselves as unique -
some humans do not know their self,
some humans do not self recognize,
some humans lose their sense of self...
some humans lose themselves ...
not only within a large flock,
but also with another individual.
Every human can become lost within their self."

Shepherd says;
"Sometimes Sheep are born into a flock,
importing anger and waging fights,
anger can lead to being scared,
that fear weakens the individual Sheep,
as well as the flock."

"Being ill at ease,
the Sheep hosts dis-ease -
provides an environment for malady to spread,
from one individual to another,
and eventually over time the ill humor grows
to become a disease that unmakes one's own free will.
Frequent dis-ease once familiar becomes a practice of patients.

"Being ill at ease for long periods of time
will take-over free-will and create more ill-will ...
ill-will will affect individual internal well-being."

"Free-will when angered is borne forth,
and carried over distances on a fearsome ill-wind.
Frequent wild winds create a storm of change,
they change the landscape over time.
Transform well-being into being-ill, which can spread fear."

"Fear transported transplants into new environments.
Each individual environment has its own ecosystem.
External environments once contaminated can diminish wellness.
Internal environments experiencing discomfort can become diseased.
As a Shepherd responsible to safely guide others, I have learned,
that imbalance can spread invisibly into whole flock's well being"

"Each Shepherd knows if he is distracted-to-fear,
and any one Sheep is distracted enough to become scared,
then each, every, Sheep can become scared enough to lose balance."

I tell my friends -
The Shepherd and the Sheep,
"We are all now in communion,
forming a community, a gathering,
a gathering of like-minded souls around us."

I share with my friends,
"I come in peace.
I am making peace within my own home.
I am making peace with my own body of experience.
Even though I come from afar
the expression I wear,
within my heart and on my face,
can be viewed and felt as familiar.
Peace."

My peace can be easily recognized,
by one Being and another,
and passed-to and passed-from each other.

Peace shared as a offering
is Peace created as a choice.
To first offer, you first choose.

A singular compassionate expression.
I wear my individual choices, full of peace.

I carry within myself my right, to peace.

I carry my right to share my-Self my-Peace.
I carry my right to choose my peace.

I share my Self-expression, of My-peace,
I share my own individual humanity, as peace.

The Shepherd gazes into the sky.
He views the hills.
He looks into my eyes.
I blush as he smiles.

He says.
"I have heard that birds often carry sticks in their feet.
So when they fly over large bodies of water,
they can float the twig in the oceans of our world."

"Birds create their own safe place to sit still.
A bird's wisdom knows to gather their courage
and find their strength within themselves."

"Birds know how to create their own-peace."

"When they are well content within themselves,
Birds continue their journey until they find land."

"Birds keep moving until they find a safe place to land -
a safe haven on this Earth to stay still."

"Birds shape wings by their will to be at peace."

"When Birds are spent of their energy, they rest to create peace.
Birds spent their peace, then earn more peace.
Birds know that peace is more that a respite from warring journey.
Birds know that a comfortable respite creates a peaceful continuance.
Birds use their will power to learn peace.
Birds use their wing power to earn peace, spend peace,
and create peace to enjoy a well deserved rest."

Sometime after 1840,
Hin-mah-too-yah-lat-kekt
(Thunder Rolling Down the Mountain)
also known as Chief Joseph leader
of the Wallowa band of Nez Perce said;
"the country was made without lines of demarcation,
and it is no man's business to divide it."
"It does not take may words to speak the truth."

Sometime after 384 B.C., Aristotle wrote;
“Inferiors revolt in order that they be equal,
and equals that they may be superior.”

Sometime after 1890 Charles de Gaulle said;
"We may go to the moon, but that's not very far.
The greatest distance we have to cover still lies within us."

Sometime after 1869, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi said;
"To my mind, the life of a lamb is no less precious
than that of a human being."

Sometime after 1900, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry wrote;
“For millions of years
flowers have been producing thorns.
For millions of years
sheep have been eating them all the same.

And it's not serious,
trying to understand
why flowers go to such trouble
to produce thorns
that are good for nothing?

It's not important,
the war between the sheep and the flowers?

It's no more serious and more important
than the numbers that fat red gentleman is adding up?

Suppose I happen to know a unique flower,
one that exists nowhere in the world
except on my planet,
one that a little sheep can wipe out
in a single bite one morning,
just like that,
without even realizing what he'd doing -
that isn't important?

If someone loves a flower
of which just one example exists
among all the millions and millions of stars,
that's enough to make him happy
when he looks at the stars.

He tells himself
'My flower's up there somewhere...'
But if the sheep eats the flower,
then for him it's as if,
suddenly,
all the stars went out.
And that isn't important?”
